For over 100 years, Western Research Institute has been involved in cutting edge research in the field of chemistry.
Initially focused on energy (oil, coal…), the Institute has also developed skills covering advanced carbon-based materials for longer lasting roads and roofs (see for example the work we do with AIRC), non-energetic applications of fossil resources to find new ways to valorize oil and coal (see our Advanced Carbon Materials page), environmental research on waste management and circular economy (see our Waste Re-engineering Initiative (Circular Economy page) and we are just starting to be involved in critical minerals recovery. All of these projects contribute to making a better life and a better environment for Wyoming, the USA and the World.
