Jeramie Adams presented WRI’s upcycling technology for Recycled Asphalt Shingles to Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association (ARMA)!

May 5, 2025

Jeramie Adams, Vice-President of the RenuMAT group (RENewable Upcycling Materials and Asphalt Technologies) at Western Research Institute, was invited to the Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association’s Spring Committee Meeting Series in Charlotte NC in March 2025.

There, he presented WRI’s upcycling technology for Recycled Asphalt Shingles (RAS). The potential of this patented technology was demonstrated thanks to a research grant from the Asphalt Institute Foundation.

In WRI’s process, the old RAS binder is reacted with a bio-solvent to generate a new softer binder that can be used in the production of new asphalt shingles or asphalt mixtures.

WRI’s goal is to further develop this technology with industrial partners and make it reach industrial scale.
